Not sure if I have posted this here before. Just ran across the shots I took of it and wanted to share with the other Error enthusiasts here. Terry

Capped reverse die. First time I've seen this? Be interesting what Mike Diamond says about this one. Maybe a struck through cloth? Interesting. The rim on the obverse looks unnatural.

I have not seen a cent like this, I mean this strongly "capped" before, and the Obverse not looking affected. They are both sweet, but there is something not Natural looking about the original OP'S coin, good luck, good coin for Mr Diamond to comment on, Mike.....(pc)

MorgansDad, I know exactly what you mean about not looking natural when I purchased a collection of just over 1300 Lincoln cents packaged in 2x2's and stored in a small tool box (Mostly 60's and 70's) I had never seen one like that before that weekend that I went through them all looking for varieties like double dies and RPM's. That one struck me as funny. Found a couple of clipped planchets in there also. All and all a great winter weekend. Terry

There are several possibilities, but you'll need to provide a weight before I can attempt a diagnosis. The possibilities are:
1. A split-after-strike planchet. 2. A normal thickness planchet struck against a split planchet. 3. A split-before-strike planchet struck against a planchet of normal thickness.

I took a series of shots of the 60-D again along side another 60-D I can not get a weight on it yet my postage scales only go to the gram not the 1/10th of a gram they both came up at two grams on there I will try to get it properly weighed soon. Here is the photo bucket link to the entire album http://s485.photobucket.com/albums/...e%20Reverse/Terry

Call me whacky, but I see what looks like george washington standing to the right and a group of men either in a boat or on a dock walking etc. (rev.)

Something odd on that reverse. I keep looking at it. Maybe now a Jefferson nickel reverse ? Would have to look at maybe lewis and clark expo ? I also see a treeline above.

I believe if you look real good, there are at least 4 possibly 5 faint imprints of the reverse Memorial!!! Or something that resembles it?
