Here's a very crusty, original dime. These can be really tough to grade due to the poor strike that is quite common on these CC dimes. I try to grade it basically on the wear that's apparent on the obverse. The pictures are good, but of course, it's a little easier to get a feel for the coin in hand.

I like it, but don't know enough about the series to venture an educated guess on the grade. I know the full bold LIBERTY is important and it looks like you have a pretty solid one under some crust. Detail on reverse looks pretty decent as well.

Thanks for posting the pic.

I'll start with my usual disclaimer that I'm far from an expert at grading. I'm going to say VF-30. I think you would need more of Liberty showing to make any higher.

Its definitely weakly struck, so I'd say at least VF-35, maybe XF taking that into account

I'll go with VF-30. I think there's enough actual wear to preclude any higher grade, regardless of strike quality.

So, at what point does "crusty" become "corroded"? It may just be the photos but it looks like there is something destructive going on at the rim, on both sides. Is it just a dark tone creeping around the relatively silver-colored denticles, or is the metal becoming pitted?

Jaobler...no corrosion that I see. If you look closely at the photo, you'll see it's just toning...and a very thick "crust". I had a numismatic friend suggest that a careful soap and water treatment of this coin might remove some of the excess dirt and improve the overall look. I'm a bit hesitant to do that with this coin.

The dealer marked this as XF. I agree with the VF30 evaluation though. Even if it might have only XF wear, I couldn't resell this coin as XF due to the poor strike and VF look.

I also agree with a VF30 grade.
