In my efforts to organize my coins, I think I am moving from a accumulator to a collector. The past couple days I have been sorting coins that I have multiples of or do not intend to collect.

Now I am not sure if I should put some of them on this site.
And if so should I put them up as action or sale.

Also I am not sure how the exchange of money should happen. I have paypal, but have only used it to purchase. Not sure how it works to get the money from a sale. Or are people here more into sending a check.

Is it better to list all items together or or on separate threads.

Of course all this is assuming what I have will sell.

So far I have

- 2009 Lincoln C&C proof set. (I have two, only want one)
- Dansco Mercury dime album (with 20 coins, could put in at least 10
more)
- Jefferson War Nickel capital coin holder (with 44 P and 45 P)
- 4 blue Ike's 71,72,73,74 (S mint, BU)
- 50 circulated clad Ike's
- Several different P mint Presidential dollars (picked from rolls
would trade for D mint)

I have no problem selling coins at coin shops, that is my comfort zone. I do sometimes see interests in members selling here first.
I would just want to make sure I at least try to make things go as smooth as possible. So thought best to ask for advice first.

OK, to answer some of you questions:

First when it comes to auctions or selling it is a personal preference completely up to you. I might suggest if you do try auctions to start the auction at or close to the minimum you are willing to accept.

As for the exchange of money, cash, check, money order or Pay Pal (gift option so there are no fees) are all commonly used. If you use pay pal, to get your money, you would either have to have a pay pal debit card, have the money transferred to your bank account or have pay pal send you a check.

In my honest opinion, I believe you will do much better listing the items separately rather than all together.

P.S. I'm still interested in those war Nickles, if and when you decide to sell!
Rest in Peace

I detest PayPal, so I'm not going to advise you on that avenue.

There's a certain amount of trust in any online transaction; the buyer hopes that the pix and descriptions you use are accurate, especially if you decide to hazard a guess as to the grade and don't provide merely a small photo and then state, "You decide."

The seller hopes that the payment arrives quickly so that he can get the item on the way. Then both parties should communicate (via e-mail) to let the other know that payment and item have arrived.

For larger amounts, I always use USPS (not drugstore) money orders; certified checks are good, although there's a small expense with either. Some kind of postal tracking (there are several) isn't a bad idea. With someone whom I've had several transactions with, a personal check works fine and usually costs nothing but postage to send, although I suggest that the seller hold the item until he's sure that the check has cleared. I don't recommend cash, but again I've sent cash in a number cases to overseas destinations and never had a problem.

Finally, it has always been my policy to send compensation no later than 24 hours (Monday-Saturday) after I've won a bid or committed to a sale. And although I no longer do ebay, I have a 100% positive feedback record intact because I informed the seller exactly what I was going to do and then did what I said I was going to do.

Both of you. Thanks for the information.

I am still sorting through stuff to see what I am going to get rid of.

JokingJoker ... sounds like you would really like to have the capital coin holder.
If we can come up with a fair price, I would be willing to treat it as a first sale, so
I can go through the process of paypal and shipping. I might have to have some direction/instruction
on the paypal part.
