Hello guys,
My grandfather recently came across a dollar bill where everything else was perfect, but there was no face inside the Oval where Washington's face normall is. It was totally blank. He brought it to 4 different coin dealers and the first offered him 50, the second 100, the third 120, and the fourth 150, to which he asked for 200 and got it. I told him not to do anything until I researched but he's crazy and can't be predicted. It was in MINT condition. He literally got it from the bank, began counting the money and saw it. Please don't tell me its worth a grand or something.

Sorry, I don't have any pictures. From the way he described it, it would look like this except its a $1 . Like it said, it came right from the bank and he immediately went to the collector with it, so it had zero creases, bends etc.

That would be interesting to see. A picture would be nice.
Not sure how that could happen. I have been to the BEP in Washington DC and watched them make paper money. I was thinking that the printing process was in two or three separate events. But I seem to remember that the portrait was printed with most of the bill, for example: the border and denomination. Also when I was there the sheets went though optical scanners, looking for errors. They would say in the tour, a whole sheet would be rejected for any minor error. Before the serial numbers were printed.
So to have a bill with no portrait I would think would be very rare, A picture would be nice.

dudes, I have no picture! Gramps sold it! for 200 to the 4th coin collector he went to. If anyone is near the area or interested, its at one of the coin collectors in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Not trolling man. I don't post on coin websites lol, I know nothing about them or paper money for that matter. The septic tank is broken at my camp and its going to cost a lot to fix. Me and my dad are trying to figure out how bad my grandpa messed up selling it for $200.

BTW, I haven't seen it myself at all. I like in NY, my grandpa lives in Florida. All he said was that he gives me grandma 5 bucks in singles each week, and she never spends them. He handed her the five as usual, then decided they better clean out her purse cause sometimes she accumulates tons of money in there cause shes old and never spends anything. The bills from that day were in there and one of them had "no washington face" is how he said it.

errrr from what you are describing, your grandpa got a pretty good deal, if he did, for selling it for $200. So only the portrait part is blank? What about the parts around it? Are they worn as well?
If it looks like the picture you posted, I can make one too, using a $1 and a bottle of pretty good dissolvant.

ancosa88,
The reason most of the members are questioning everything is because there have been many instances of new members detailing an incredible find with nothing to back it up with. Please take no offense but we just have nothing to go on to prove this amazing find. Please ask your grandfather to return to the buyer solely for the purpose of taking a picture of the note in question.
Now let me put on my moderator's hat...
I edited your posts of all the profanities. Please refrain from using anymore in the future as this is a family friendly forum and it will not be tolerated.

Someone gave a 1-sided 100. a couple years ago to my wife's boss. Just the obverse was printed. As far as no face, many are hidden. Welcome!

The note described is absolutely impossible. The four 'coin dealers' all offering increasing amounts of money for such a thing indicates either they need new professions, (or something else). If he got $200 for it, then... well... whatever.

To the mod, sorry for cursing, and its completely understandable that people wouldn't believe me. I'm a fan of a few other internet forums so I understand the prevalence of trolls. To anyone telling me I'm lying, so be it. My grandfather isn't a liar, and I can see no reason why he (and my grandmother) at age 87 would lie to me about something they got from the bank. Thanks for the info about the solvent method of removing the picture though, that could be a possibility. Although he got it directly from the bank and he claims it was a new bill, so I don't see it being a very good chance. I talk to him on Sundays, not so much during the week, but I'll have my dad request that he goes back to the dealer to take a picture.
