Hi,
Just wondering if there are any retailer dealers that stand out in your mind for higher grade half dollars? Online? Thanks. John

There's an ebay seller called "grandoldhalves" (or something like that) who specializes in bust and Seated half dollars. I've never purchased from him but he has many scarce and valuable coins in high circulated grade. Any decent retail coin shop should have a good assortment of Barber through Kennedy halves, with (probably) some seated and capped bust examples.

There are many reputable dealers who sell on-line. I've purchased from Alpine Numismatics, JJ Teaparty, Jack Beymer, Legend, Rare Coins of New Hampshire, and others, all with satisfactory results. Just about any dealer who offers clear coin images and accurate descriptions (and has a fair return policy!) is probably worth a look.

Specifically, I'm looking for Walking Liberty halves in ms64 or better to put away while they are still affordable. I did look for that ebay seller and didn't find him. Also tried a couple of variations with no luck. I will try some of those other sellers you mentioned. Thanks for the info Jaobler

I spent the better part of the day searching online dealers, ebay etc. I'm a little disappointed that I wasn't able to find any silver MS 64 or better, at or below greysheet ask. Maybe it's a better market than I thought. I was thinking that with the economy in the dumps, I might be able to hedge against my tanking 401k.

Anyone else? Might also look for some higher quality bust halves.

He doesn't have a web site, but Louis Fogleman of The Coin Shop in Farmington, N.M. has a decent selection of Walkers. His phone # is (505) 326-2156.
