I seem to always get into the game late but cmon! I searched ebay and used google product search as wells as the regular google search looking for nickels and $25 was the LOWEST price I could find. They even threw in free shipping.

I didn't find much on our forum about the latest prices but I am amazed. I guess while everyone was finishing their quarter sets, the regular coins were passed by. Some of you can probably elaborate on this subject as well as the dime also.

What about the 2009 penny. Are any of the reverse hard to find?

I have been watching nickel prices for over a year. You are not too late. $25 is the best price I've seen since they showed up on ebay. Personally I will be waiting longer in hopes the prices will come down some more.

Do you have any idea how much a CD was when they first came out? Anytime something new comes out the initial hype over inflates the price. If you are one of the 'gotta have it now" collectors then you will pay $25 or more, but if you can be patient you will start to see prices fall to a more reasonable amount. Look at the 2009 Lincoln's. Same thing.

The previous post is irrelevant. The initial price of a CD has nothing at all to do with why 2009 nickel rolls are so high.

They are so high because of percieved rarity NOT the fact that they are new. They are NOT NEW! They are over 1 year old but the fact remains they are not circulating. They are all in storage at the Fed because everyone and their brother have been using coin star to empty out their piggy banks. The banks don't need to order any nickels from the Fed so ...there they sit. One day ...they will get released and the bottom will fall out of the price. They will be $2.00 a roll some day...but the question is when?

Try finding a roll of 2010 nickels ...ROF !

I am not referring to new releases of CDs. I am referring to when CDs first came out. For the first year it was hard to find any CD for less than $30. They were difficult to acquire as well. Many store were afraid to invest in a new format. As time went on the "preceived" ideas about CDs wore off. Prices came down, and supply became plentiful.

I agree that the price for these nickels will continue to come down.

I think they are down from what they were. At one point I was looking on E bay to pick up a roll, there were a lot of them with bids for $50 to $80 ....of course I would not buy at that price.

I am simply amazed. I am ordering boxes of nickels every week from Wells Fargo and Chase in hopes of hitting the motherload! :-)
