I could have had a 12 star version in VG or Fine for about the same money that had nice honest attractive wear but chose this one to show more detail for my type set. I suspect it is darker than the image shows. I am expecting it in the mail.

I think it will look more like this.

ha! cool borders! they add a nice touch. I would grade VF 20/25.

From the pictures it looks like the headband says "LIBRRTY". Is this the case?

I don't have an estimate as to the grade, but

That's what I see too! It doesn't seem to be an artifact of the photo, what should be the E looks exactly like the R. Moreso in the darkened photo. I played around with PaintShop Pro and it still looks like an R. Be interesting to see what it looks like in hand.

On the subject of color:

A while back I won an 1859 IHC on ebay that turned out to be a pretty good XF. He hawked it as UNC, but had listed it as AU because there was a "touch of rub". When it arrived it became obvious that the seller had drowned it in light in his photos as it was MUCH darker in hand. "Touch" turned out to mean "Lots". All of the high points had been rubbed shiny, both obv and rev. The high exposure of the photo masked these traits.

A lesson learned on photographs on this one. I left the seller positive feedback though, saying that the photos misrepresented the coin, much darker than shown, lots of rub, but still nice detail though.

He never left me feedback.

If your coins turns out dark like you anticipate, it's still got nice detail though!

This should show up tomorrow and I will try to retake images and inspect the LIBRRTY question. I have never heard of that variety. I think I will be rich or the lighting just makes it so it looks like that. I sure hope it isn't a gouge or something.

The darker splotches on the coin are actually not real good news. I think maybe Bad Thads Verdi Care will help things. I am OK with the detail and color but am disappointed in the surface. Still, it is an OK coin just as it is for the money. Images will follow.

The LIBRRTY issue is solved. It is undamaged but the is some buildup of verdigris in that letter E.

This is looks like the perfect coin for Verdi-Gone and/or Verdi-Care.

Isn't ebay photography wonderful?
I have come up with a better image to show this coin as I received it.
Not quite all it was cracked up to be is it? Never the less, I am going to keep it.

That's the kind of difference there was on my '59 IHC. Although not that dark, it was.....Dramatic.

Well, I can make out the "E" now anyway!

Sometimes the luck of the draw.

Still, nice detail though!

I paid about 60 dollars. I was going on the image you see at the very top of this topic in that listing.

Just my opinion, but I would return the coin. You can get a much better one for that.

Looks to be F15 corroded. Yeah, you might be able to return it?
That looks like a photoshop job. I'd avoid this seller/
