That is a terrific looking coin! The pictures are a bit blurry, but I think it's at least a 64. I don't see anything from the pics that would stop it from making gem, but I'd need better shots to confidently give it a higher grade.

Thanks Johnny, and I agree. One thing I'm surprised about is the RB designation people gave.

Do you think the darker coloring band on the reverse drops the grade?

Shadow, I believe PCGS or NGC may call this MS64BN. I am still standing by 64RB :-) There is enough RD on the obverse IMO to warrant this designation.

MS64RB. I dislike the band on the back, but whatever. I don't know if that would affect the grade.

I don't either. I lucked out on the coin however (and paid very little for it) so I'm not complaining. Any other opinions?

MS-64RB but I agree a TPG would grade it as BN due to the band on the reverse. The band was probably caused by the way the coin had been stored. Someone had this coin squirrelled away for quite some time.

Thanks guys.
Tbh I was a bit surprised at the number of 64 grades. I don't think the coin is RB and believe the glare accentuated the red on the obverse perhaps.
However, under the glass, the coin has virtually no imperfections. I actually think it grades MS-67 (!) BN but is likely to only get MS-66 or at worst 65 BN because of the streak on the reverse. The strike is heavy and it's one of the cleanest older coins I've seen. I'll post new pics when I can.

Is the die rotated, or just the photo?
