I think I got ripped here. The coin was misrepresented on ebay. How would you grade? How much would you pay?

I see a couple of rim dings and quite a bit of chatter on both sides I'd still call it MS-63. Red books lists it at $75. $50-$55 would be an OK price for this coin.

I dunno, lotsa good scratches and that gouge on the bottom of her cheek. Also, whats going on with the 7 in the date? Reverse is pretty marred up. Its god a lot of luster and no wear, just plenty of mis handling. I would say MS61, maybe MS62.

I agree with both of you. Returning something is such a pain. I think I am done with ebay. I paid $80 under the impression that it was more prooflike and borderline 64.

I'd say MS-63, the same as echizento. Remember that these are images, a lot larger than the actual coin. Not too far from a 64 IMO. You only lost $20 or so dollars, a good cheap lesson. I personally wouldn't quit ebay just because of that. Quick question: How was the coin misrepresented? If the seller said it was 64PL, it wouldn't have been too far a stretch and relying on what the seller said wasn't a very good idea.

He did not mention a grade or condition and the pictures hid the field scratches well. I probably am over reacting here. Just upset that I was cautious on ebay and this is what happened.

Yeah, sometimes you take a chance and it doesn't pan out, but your really not too bad off. I think it is a nice looking coin, solid for 63. You always have to expect that there may be some hidden marks that don't show up in the photos and bid several grades under. Try to only bid on coins with exceptional pictures, and just because some of the hits didnt show up in the seller's photos doesn't necessarily mean that the seller mis-represented the item.

everyone overpays every now and again. I overpaid on a 1878 CC one time. but the way I figure it is I could hold on to it long enough where I can get my money back out of it. if your not going to sell it your not out anything anyways

I contacted the seller, he says the "price is justified as it is an R-5 Morgan". I guess hes referring to VAM rarity. He claims the eyelid is tripled but I can only see double. and liberty is at least doubled.
