no expert here ... with out getting a book out ..
I would say XF-40 details, The reverse seems to have the most wear. Something going on with the first "T" in states.
I have been trying to learn more about what a cleaned coin looks like. I could be wrong but there seems to be a lot of fine lines going from 10 o'clock to 5 o'clock, on both the obverse and reverse.
The tone seems to be natural, so if it was cleaned it may have been a long time ago.
Overall a nice coin

I would agree with XF-40 maybe XF-45 because of the luster. But there is some interesting marks between United and states on the reverse. overall nice coin though!

I was thinking more like 55 original, hairlines look like lighting issues but I'm not sure.
question- Would original luster be so prevalent if the coin had been cleaned?

The cleaning I am thinking .. is along the lines of a cloth, rubbing back and forth .. maybe causing the hair lines.
Reason I did not want to go higher then XF, is the reverse. The "V" and the left side of the wreath seems to have the most wear, including the center of the ribbon/bow on the bottom and the left ear of corn. Maybe it is weak strike, but I am leaning to wear, because the overall strike of this coin seems to be really nice.
EDIT - now that lighting was mentioned .. got me wondering if in hand this coins looks better than what I am seeing in the pic ..

I agree with Matt that it's in the AU range. I'd go with 50, maybe 53. Possibly cleaned, but those hairlines may be from circulation too.

I've graded AU53. Thanks for all the input. It has not been cleaned IMO. I may put in the sell forum ;-)

It does not look cleaned to me, and XF-45.

Looks to me like AU, but these are tough. The stars are solid which tells me AU; the die crack next to the T swallowed the 3. Looks to me like a solid, high AU but the scratches net it low to mid, so I'd gander a guess as 53 - 55.

I'm in agreement with V'tesium on AU, but I would say AU55. Don't believe the coin has been cleaned and I did not see any hairlines on either the obverse or reverse. Could be my eyes, but a nice original coin IMO.

The obverse looks very nice as many of the No Cents 1883 nickels do. There is an area of light wear above eye to the B in LIBERTY. You have a bold L. A light amount of wear above the ear. Obverse looks to be AU50 without any problems. Those corn kernels on the left ear are half worn off and 1/3 of some of the leaves. So I would think this side barely or just makes XF40. So I would net this fairly and conservatively at XF45.
Good thing these estimates don't make much of a difference in the price range from low XF to mid AU which we all agree it falls under.
