I found this one in a cellophane folder long forgotten. Research says there are two types of DD for this date. Can anyone help me identify this one?

Thanks!

I would agree with the 002
Would like to see a shot of the date but
really not even needed. Get a solid grade on it.
EF45 shows a FMV of $50.00
Jumps up pretty good from there.
Nice find for a cent !

Here's a pic of the date. The coin appears to be at least BU, but frankly I'm not enough of an expert to know.

unless I missunderstand the original statement, there are 8 class 1 DD listed at coppercoins, for the 72 phillie (not just 2).

Coppercoins.com list 12 for the Philly DDO's.
Wexler lists 10.

I agree with the 002 reply and an MS grade. IMO, this is the second best DDO for this date since the doubling does appear spread across the entire obverse of the coin. Less on the Liberty, but well spread on the legend and easily observed on the date. There are numerous DDO's for this date.

What would be the consensus opinion on having this coin certified. Is it worth the expense?

If it's original and not cleaned (cannot tell from the images provided) it would grade MS63RD or MS64RD. Its value would be in the neighborhood of $75-$125. Hope that helps you determine whether to have it encapsulated.

Yeah... it's original and definitely not cleaned. I've looked at it thoroughly through a digital microscope (where the pics cames from) at up to 200X, it has not been dipped or scrubbed. Thanks for the reply!
