Figured I would post some pics of a recent find - 1964-D Kennedy Tripled Die Half Dollar. Found this in a roll of '64's. When I saw the tripling on the obverse legend "In God We Trust" (it also shows up a little on the numerals but not much) I couldn't believe my eyes. I think this is listed in the new CPG. Just had to share.

There were three other doubled die halves in the same roll (1964-D) which either speaks to their commonality or fate just brought them together. Does anyone have any ideas for valuing such coins? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nice coin, I didn't know that one existed. I have a couple different proof nickels with triple dies on the reverse.
There are values for my nickels in the Ribar - Wexler book Best of the Jefferson nickel Double Die Varieties but in my opinion, I don't think people pay quite as much as they list for. Maybe there is a book for other coins.
It is quite an in-depth book with many different Jefferson images just like you posted of your Kennedy.
Here's one I found might be like yours [eBayItem]150473726063[/eBayItem]

Wheezydog, thanks for the ebay hit. that might pretty well establish a price for this item since that guy has some 8800+ feedbacks and over 95% are positive. At $17.00, I think I'll just put this guy back in the collection and enjoy him.

You're welcome. From what I could see, yours is a sharper example and it looks to be in higher grade. One or two examples, doesn't necessarily establish a true price value for your nice coin. Congrats on a super find!

Nice find. I'm jealous that you can even find half dollar rolls (from the bank). Oh yeah, I'm jealous on the find also.

It is actually a double variety. TDO and RPM on the reverse.

Coop, are you saying that my pics are a DDO instead of TDO? I was certain it was a TDO when looking at the magnified pics of the "U", "E", and "W" which clearly seem to show a die with three serifs of each letter. I also have pics of a 1964-D DDO I found and was fairly certain that the coin I posted was a TDO, particularly when looking at the pics. I plan to post the 64-D DDO soon.

Also, I'll check, the coin I posted but I'm pretty sure it does not have an RPM as I recall. I'm not close to it now or I would check for sure. Just looking for some clarification, and thanks in advance for any assistance.

Here are images of the DDO for this year. But there could be more than the two know doubled dies for this year.

I found my two examples just trying to get the Denver mint halves for my collection. Eventually I found a normal one. LOL

Coop, I was kind of the same way. I started looking at a roll of '64's that I had purchased and began finding doubled dies. The tripled die was also part of the same roll. I thought "huh? now that's pretty cool."
