Archraz Pillar of the Community United States 3499 Posts	Posted 08/04/2010 11:50 am I don't think that it has been cleaned. IT just has "wood-grain toning." This occurs when the metals are not properly mixed before the blank is made. So the different components tone a slightly different color, which creates that streaking effect. It's an AU55 easy and could be "market-graded" into MS62 slab if no problems are found. The current bid is already over AU money and I can see why because it looks like a $40 coin to me. Jaobler Pillar of the Community United States 6385 Posts	Posted 08/04/2010 11:17 pm I don't see any wear or problems. Color is red-brown and it appears original, with wood-grain texture as noted. Details are very strong. If luster is intact I could see this coin in an MS-63RB holder. The ticks in the obverse field would preclude any higher grade. If luster is impaired I think it should score an AU-58. It's an attractive cent IMO. Report this Post to the Staff
