Poll Question
After a year or so of collecting, I find myself in a position of being on the verge of hoarding. Anything that is bright and shiny (penny wise) all Wheaties...etc. (you get the idea)
I have made the decision to collect for a reason (so to speak) I have Dansco albums to fill, and maybe select coins otherwise
I'm sure this will change, as My Hobby disorder kicks in

Oh, just hoard. you know you wanna. As long as you have the space the time and the inclination, why not?** You could always liquidate later if you so chose. Or you could just give it all to me... In all seriousness, I would say hard, the wheats for instance are not IMO poised to go down in value anytime soon. Not to mention that the act of selling often takes a lot of effort so it's just easier to keep em till you have a sizeable enough "hoard" to sell & make it worth it. **disclaimer: an understanding spouse may be another requirement!

Hoard things that appeal to you and, as was previously mentioned, you can always sell them later for things that you really want.

I just made a decision for myself last week. I had accumulated a ton of "lots" and just got rid of it. I think I made about $600 on top of what I had bought it all for (found alot of silver in circulation). I'm glad I did. I decided id rather put it all into one or two type coins that will appreciate well, instead of relying on the value of silver. which imo is way to unpredictable for me.

At least with coins you'll get something back at some point. It's better than hoarding pets or bottles or magazines, you get the point. So I say hoard till your hearts content!

I have a garage and a room in the basement that could probably qualify for a segment of that TV show HOARDERS. ( not really ) The rest of the house is in pretty nice order except that stuff over there. I'll probably never get rid of ALL this stuff. There was a time when I owned a bread van and bought a country church that closed up and filled them with stuff. Coins are smaller and I sold a lot of antiques and stuff at auction. I am returning to an antique shop in September and loading up a case there. Most of my stuff these days is a lot smaller than a breadbox so I am going to move my extras out that way. I guess it's OK to hoard if it doesn't interfere with your health, your responsibilities or your sanity. I think I did all this hoarding and collecting to someday have stuff to sell so I would have enough money when I got older and so not to worry. I think I did it because I had a fear of needing something. I really don't remember ever really needing a thing for the past 25 years except more space, time and energy. Now I am afraid it just doesn't really matter anymore.

You should hoard all the pennies you can find, and use the corroded nasty ones to pay your parking tickets and taxes.

I never hoard. When I get for example commemorative €2 coin worth maybe €2,50 I just spend it. Maybe someone young collector will get it for next time and become very happy about it. I just don't want that there lies dublicates around my desks, shelves and floors. When I get a dublicate which is worth of selling I just sell it and buy something what I don't already have. That's my philosophy

I suppose I qualify as a hoarder, since I have never sold a coin. I also keep all nickels and copper cents. (Although I justify this by saying that I am saving them for my son to search through one day!)
