Picked this up at the local annual local coin show.
It is my example for a silver trime in my type set for now.

The reverse looks EF but I'd say VF overall due to the wear at the obverse center, probably VF30. These tiny coins are very easily damaged and this example is not. It should be a nice addition to your type set.

I would grade it VF20. The star has wear and the shields lower left corner is almost worn smooth. I hope that helps.

Looks XF to me. The diamond on reverse shows very little wear and the peaks on the star look little worn.

I agree with XF also. This coin shows very little wear. To grade it VF there would have to be more wear on the points of the star. IMHO

I have to go with XF40. Great coin - how did they keep track of all that small, small silver and gold rattling around in their pockets. I can't keep track of my car keys.

I think even men used small change purses back then.

I would probably grade this VF35 all said and done. Maybe I could get lucky with XF40 but definitely not choice XF45.
The reason being it is lacking strike detail in the center. It doesn't look like the missing detail is all due to wear as much as metal flow to the high points of the coin. There is some wear of course, but I don't see overall wear to bring it down to VF20 level.
I darkened and added this image to see that the star point at 2 O'clock is almost perfect, the line in the center goes right to the tip. The others I think are just weak.
The difference in values is pretty much minimal between VF and XF anyway. The front of this coin is not this dark but the reverse has very little blue toning and the front has darker heavier toning obviously. I think that for better eye appeal it would make XF no problem if it was more uniform and on both sides.

is there such a thing as VF34? the rim date and stars are nice only the shield design does not quite make EF 45, but the field is not all worn, is strike at this level so important? I would think EF40 but I only ave a few of these...
