So I'm sure a few others have ran into this problem... I have kept pre 1960 jeffersons but now.. I have to many...has anyone found anything to do with them.. trade, sell, etc.
Recently I have only kept low mintage jeffs and pre 1950.
Looking for ideas... maybe start a poll? Edited by Americanamafia 08/12/2010 01:31 am

I practice catch and release. If I don't need them for my collection - I send them back out into the wild. Well, I keep keys and the silvers

I know of a couple different options. I have disposed of over 7,000 of these the past two years. I sell them (mixed rolls) on ebay, usually in groups of 15 rolls (15 rolls fit in the Priority Mail small flat rate box) sprinkle in a few bonus coins (a few Warnickels, 1938/39 d or s, etc) and ask $4 a roll for them. Usually sells very quickly for me. Also, Arizona Coin & Jewelry pays $2.85 a roll for them, but you have to pay to ship them.

This is interesting, I have never tried to get tried of any yet. I have a coin tube box labeled with the dates. I sort my finds into the tubes and as a tube fills I wrap it. I now have a little over $600 in solid date circ rolls 1938-1958. I have even bought some circ rolls in the past. So far it is just accumulating and not selling. As far as price, my coin dealer will sell $200 face value bags of pre 1961 (100 rolls) for $315. I would think if I wanted to sell some I would try other collectors first thru CCF and then ebay second.

Still filling jars. May sell someday when I have enough to bother with it. For now, it's just fun finding and setting aside.

Some time after I find that blasted 1955 to complete my set, I intend to put together "starter rolls" guaranteeing no more than 2 of any single date/mintmark and having them available for giveaways and probably see if I have enough to sell a few rolls. I think it'd be a hoot of a way to get some youngster into coin collecting to go through some rolls with a chance to fill a bunch of holes.
But until that 1955 shows up...I'm a hoarder.

I'm just holding onto them for another couple decades rofl. By then I'm hoping most of those earlier dates are tougher to find, and therefore be worth money. I don't mind holding onto them at all.

Well...this gives me some insight. I Have been sorting out My 30's 40's and 50's nickels with the consideration of possibly offering them up for sale to somebody here. (everything 60's and up have been recirculated) As I have voiced previously, Nickels are not my favorite. I only wanted to complete a set. I just recently completed my Jeff set (well still needing 09 and 10) I may consider one of several options. 1) Dumping them back into circulation so somebody else has a shot at them 2) take the lot and dump them on ebay with a face value start bid and see how they run 3) take them to a local coin shop and see what I can get in trade 4) Hope the some people can act appropriately and the auction section gets opened up again

I don't know about keeping them. I've never really been into buying or selling rolls of coins. Probably by the time I've gone through a million of them - I'll be wishing I had kept them - but for now, if it's not one of the key 9 or silver, and it doesn't fill a hole in my Dansco - back it goes.

I'd go with #3 and take them to a coin shop. Possibly get something you're interested in in trade, and they'd get something out of it too. Support your local shop!

Usually, I usually just keep the few best coins and toss the rest back into circulation. I don't know if you can easily sell those worn F-XF nickels from the 50's for much of a premium (please tell me if so!), so I would just keep the best ones (maybe the best 10 or so). But keep the War Nickels!

Interesting idea Specks.
I've been sorting them by date/mm into tubes & rolls too. I like the idea of eventually selling lots of 8-10 rolls on the bay or maybe selling rolls at a flea market table at $3.50 - $4 each.

I would just put them in rolls and sell them or trade them at the next coin show
