This looks like a 1838 to me .. and it's up to 75.00.

Am I seeing this wrong?

Edit - sorry .. I should have read the last line .. that the seller says the date was put in wrong ..

But is this coin worth that much?

other than the discoloration it is a very well struck coin. Very sharp details.

I agree the strike is great .. I am not liking the dark reverse at all.

IMHBCO, I don't believe the coin is worth $75 based solely on the conditon of the reverse. If the reverse were as sharp as the obverse and not corroded as it appears to be, then yes it would be worth 75. Obverse is EF, and the reverse appears to be F/VF with corrosion. That's my $.02

He notes in the listing at the bottom that the correct date is 1838. Nice coin but you take a big risk buying copper based on an ebay photo. Just my humble opinion.

That's a heck of a strike. Looks to me like the obverse had the same dark color & corrosion as the reverse......I'm seeing a lot of porosity on the obverse. I wouldn't pay anywhere near $75.

Sharp details, moderately corroded, cleaned, I'd say a $20 to $25 coin at best.

My opinion is that he drew a crowd to the auction by the wrong date but he had a nice looking coin and it get some people to bid who otherwise may not ahve bothered. Whether the 1808 slip was an intentional mistake or just an honest boo-boo, I'm not sure. I think sellers will stoop to lots of tactics to get people to view their auctions.

It's a nice coin, even with the problems. I don't think it's an $80 coin, maybe $40-50
