As I posted last week, tomorrow I will be leaving for a week of camping, fishing, and hiking in the San Juan Mtns. of SW Colorado. Provided that I can get this old, tired body up to 12,000 feet (that's where the lakes are), whoever guesses the correct number of fish that I catch will win the 2 Redbooks that I offered for trade but got no hits on. The Redbooks are a 1965 and a 1968 copy. I might throw in a couple of other old numismatic publications that I have floating around here as well. If you don't need these copies, you could still guess for the fun of it, but feel free to give the books to the second closest guesser and I will mail them to him/her. Closest or exact guess wins, in the event of a tie, first person to post the correct # wins. Try to look at the posts and guess a number that hasn't been guessed. In years past, my success has gone from being completely skunked (zero fish caught) to as many as 30+. Two years ago I had great luck and caught in the high 20's. I'll count every fish, no matter how big. I throw most fish back. Those native cutthroats are mighty cagey! Now, this is one contest that must go to the end since I won't be back til next Fri. Hope this doesn't interfere with any other contest that might be going on. Thanks to everyone who made guesses. I only wish everyone who loves the moutains, nature etc, could experience this place which I discovered totally by accident about 20 years ago. Dsking is not exaggerating with her glowing description of the area. Best part of the trip was just relaxing on the tundra in the sunshine listening to marmots whistle and water and rocks falling. Had the lakes all to myself. By the way, all fish counted were actually landed, not counting any that got off at the last minute. Kept only 7 fish, all others released. With my special semi-secret lure, here are the surprising results: Day One: 27 trout
Day Two: zero, (resting up from Day One's climb!)
Day Three: 7 trout (tried a different lake higher up)
Day Four: 8 trout (think they were getting used to seeing the same lure! For a grand total of 42, and so, the winner is: Dockwalliper with a guess of 33. If you'll email me your address, I'll get your Redbooks off to you ASAP. Edited by adobero1 08/19/2006 5:51 pm

I have a lot of faith in you, Adobero. I feel you will come back with no less than 14 caught. So, being an optimist, I am going to guess 15 fishes to feed the masses. Good luck and have fun.

I'll be fishing in the Mt. Sneffels wilderness area at the lower, middle and upper Blue Lakes. But, I don't think that will help you much, as I said, anywhere from zero to ?......

With the drought and it being so ovenlike these days, the fish are going to remain deep. I will go with a nice round number of 12. That is if you fish for 6 days at around 2 a day.
