I'm new here, but wanted to post a picture of two of my favorite coins, and I wanted your guys opinion about one.

Here is my 1864L Indian Head cent. I grade it as an XF-45+. I really like it b/c it has a really bold repunched date, as well as doubling on the wording around the obverse.

Now I have a question on an 1889 Indian Head cent. I bought it from Eagle Eye Coins. It was graded as MS-63 S-4. Now, I've just recently gotten more into coin collecting and have done some research. But I've looked at the "1889" with a jewler's loupe and just can't see any doubling or repunching. Do you guys see anything?

Snow -4, sorry I just saw it. it's actually a 3 star variety, meaning it's fairly desirable. repunching on the 9, PLUS a top of a digit (9 or 9) in the denticles between the two 8's. Also another digit, less prounced, between the 1 and 8 in the denticles. I see it in your photo and it's pretty cool.

Thanks, it took me a while to find a nice example of the 1864L. I bought it specifically for the bold "L."

Any coin bought from Eagle Eye you can rest assured it is what Rick says it is. He is the Godfather of Indian cents. Some of the RPD's can be hard to see but I can see the digits in the denticles on your 1889 with the naked eye. Really nice coins you have there, I would like to have an 1864 as nice as that one. Love those Indian pennies!

When you say "in the denticles" do you mean slightly above them or actually between the top of the "tooth" and rim?

I'm sorry sometimes I'm a hit and run poster. Look between the teeth of the denticles and you'll see the digits.
