anybody have any tips on rolling all your dimes back up? it really seems way too much effort.
I've looked for coin roller machines but they all seem to focus on sorting, etc. too. plus, the product reviews suggest they jam often and don't count accurately.
should I just give in and do 1000 of dimes manually?

Why roll them? I just bring mine back to the bank.

really? it seems they'd be incredibly unhappy counting out 1000 dollars in dimes. i'd guess they'd say no.

You need to find a bank that has a coin counting machine with no charge and then use that as your "dump bank" to get rid of the coins you just searched. Just make sure you buy coins from a different bank than you dump at to keep them from getting mad at you.

If you haven't already tried, call or talk to someone from each of the main banks is your area and they can probably tell you if any of their branches have a machine. (I use to re-roll coins until an employee told me their branch across town had a machine). Good luck!

Talk to the bank -- my main bank prefers coins UNrolled, and they walk them to the back room to put them through their coin counter. (My other bank only takes rolls and credits your account after Brinks picks them up.)

I recently paid my wife $100 to roll up $300 worth of dimes. I think she made out pretty good.....It was well worth the $100 to me to not have to re-roll.....I shudder at the thought. You HAVE to find a counting machine.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72

My BOA branch gives me "Coin Safe" bags along with any boxes of coins I order. They understand what I am doing and invite me to bring the rest back. When returning the coins, I put a deposit slip in the bag and seal the bag. They they send the bag to the central vault, where the bag is cointed and posted to my account. It takes a few days, but it is easy.

I have a big jug I fill with loose change and then haul it to my bank, the only problem they have is the weight of it so they get some smaller buckets and we pour the change out of the big jug and fill up the buckets and then they carry those to the counting machine in the back

I LOVE the coin dump banks that have those automatic machines. You can buy a 50 dollar bag of pennies, and a 2000 dollar bag of quarters, unsearched. They also do dimes, nickels and halves. It is a GREAT PLACE, to me.

btw...in my area there don't appear to be any of the bigger banks with free counting machines. there is, however, a village bank, which offers coinstar to account holders for half the usual percentage.

I have several vending machines and use the coin counting tubes available at Walmart....pretty quick and easy with a little practice...and if I'm feeling lazy, my daughter will roll them for a 5% fee.
