Hi. Before my computer issues I saved some scans to a disk and was able to upload some of the most recent scans images to photobucket, and here is one of the coins I wonder about.

1952 Canada cent. Running between the G (of K G) and the leaf is a roughened concave area that I'm wondering if this is a "struck through" or maybe a faulty planchet? Or some other thing? It isn't post mint damage I don't think. It doesn't appear like that to my uneducated eye. What do you folks think this is? It also looks like there is a hairline crack running from the concave area right down to the rim but I need a closer look when I can scan again.

1952-Cent-Small-Struck-Through-Or-Planchet-Problem?

Thanks :)

Just my uninformed opinion. It looks like a lamination error. The hairline crack that you say you see could be where the lamination has started to peel.

I was wondering if the leaf and 1 cent have some MD or is it just the lighting?

Cladhunter13, Hi and thanks :) I can't see any doubling, so thats light reflections on the block type images & fonts edges.

I never thought about lamination error! I was remembering seeing some images of some called struck throughs that looked similar in effect, so guessed that as a possibility. But if some of the plating is missing and showing planchet roughness underneath it then yeah, sounds like lamination :)

I seem to see a faint line running to the rim and that makes me think die crack. I don't know if I can crop and enlarge that corner of the coin for a closer view of the whole irregular area but I'll try. I can't see well enough with just my little magnifying glass (and imperfect vision)

I was able to crop and close up more. I hope this shows well, I'm not very knowledgable yet about working with photos and programs.
