I am not looking into buying this, just more in to learning. Is this mint mark added, or is this a normal location for this mint mark. Just trying to broaden my knowledge for myself and any of the other newbies out there.

At least the seller calls attention to it: '"with what seems to be a misplaced "S", the "S" should be centered between the 9 & the O, instead it is under the "O"'

I think it's okay and it's not an error. There is more than one good mintmark location.

It is very possible the mint mark was added at a later date. With the most popular coins counterfeits do exist. I have seen some where the mint mark was cut from a coin then attached to another to make it more valuable. In that type of counterfeiting you wanna look for heat marks, discoloration around the mint mark, also (like this coin, but not saying it isn't legit) a buildup of grime around the mint mark. It could be leftover flux from the weld.

The mint mark looks good for the year but the position and "work" around it
would definitely deter me from making the purchase.I finally got my 09-s this past summer and
made sure it satisfied any possible suspicion I could have.

Hi, Americanmafia, there was a topic on the 1909S mint mark a while back, that showed the different locations, I couldn't find it.

That one looks o.k. to me, one of the locations seemed to be like that.
