Quote: I know it's not nearly as popular as any other denomination (save dollar coin rolls), but I'm sure there are some people out there who search quarters. I was re-reading the first few postings of this thread and this from the thread starter lizzyjo struck me. What's "collectible" seems to be a matter of what each person's interest is and, maybe more, how deep the collectors pockets are. My first filled album was Jefferson nickels. Every P&D from beginning to date, and every proof from '51 to date. I collected them cause I like Thomas Jefferson. I know a lot of people view them as worthless kids starter coins, but I love them. (note my name) I started quarters after finally getting my hands on my parents stash of silver. Still need a few silvers, but have all clads to '98. I didn't care for the State Quarters as I saw light strike reverses and high mintages. Now I'm hooked on ATB set. Deeply struck reverses and low mint figures the first 3 years. Think about it. Some people with very deep pockets will tell you nothing but Morgan and Silver Eagle dollars in graded slabs are worth collecting. Let's get real, I don't call these people collectors, I refer to them as coin buyers. I collect mostly circulated for the history and the fun of roll searching, not for resale value. My collection goes to my grandkids one day. Now I'll climb down off my soapbox and go get another 5 rolls of quarters from the bank!

Decided to give the old "W" quarter search a go, so I bought my first box of quarters ever. No luck on the W but I got a '19P and a '19D (only 3 '19s in the box). But I did find a 1961-D silver in the box. So happy my first quarter box had a silver in it.

Someday, when people realize just how scarce some of the 2009-2012 dated quarters truly are, I think there will be an uptick in interest in searching through quarter rolls. Any of you who have tried to complete an America The Beautiful set can attest to just how hard some are to find.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

I searched through $50 in quarters. No W mintmarks (and no 2019's at all). I did find a few 2009-2012 quarters, which I kept, and a few 1976 quarters, which I also kept. Hopefully I will get more quarters this week sometime.

HI Grime5. Loomis is common on ebay which is why people are saying Loomis rolls but the truth is they are in all shipments from the mint since April 1st starting on the American Memorial Park quarter rolls. Can be NF String or loomis rolls you will see the NF strING rolls on ebay also but less common. I think it only matters which armored carriers are doing the distributing in that state/city to the banks for the fed. They are NOT in the Lowell rolls. Those were already distributed before the W mint marked quarters were ready. The American memorial park rolls have the Lowell W in them from April 1st release, 2nd release of Aptil from what I can tell was the American Memorial Park W quarters. Like June 3rd is the 3rd w mint mark release I think. I'd need to recheck to be sure but it will be caught up at that point. With the Ws matching the other coins in the rolls.

An auction currently on ebay by a seller guaranteed a W mint marked Lowell, despite only the reverse Lowell showing and the other end of the roll was a D. Apparently, in opening other similar rolls, they were Memorial Park quarters with D mint mark and any Lowell's he found were W mint marked. So the roll being sold on ebay is guaranteeing the Lowell reverse within that roll to be W. He claims 1 to a handful per roll are W mint marked. So it is strange, but it does seem that the W Lowell is showing up in Memorial Park rolls.

I got another $40 in quarters from a different bank. I actually found a 1951 silver quarter! I was in shock, it was an amazing find! Still no W mint marks, but the silver quarter made up for it!

I just got a $500 sealed box of quarters. Upon opening the box, I see they are machine wrapped rolls, mixed dates probably 1965-present.
Without going through 113 pages of this thread, can someone quickly summarize what to look for in terms of varieties? I will look for silver, W mint marked and proofs. But my question is on the varieties.
I have not searched a mixed box of quarters in over 10 years. I was actually hoping for a BU box of 2019 to look for the Ws, but I received this mixed box instead. I might as well search it.
