I received this cent from an older gentleman at my church along with about 15 pennies from about '09-'29. He isn't a collector, but he knows I am one. I know he buys and collects current coins to give to his grandkids. Few people have ever given me old coins, so this was pretty cool!

I'm pretty sure one would call this a die chip. (I'm afraid none of the pictures are very good.) I searched extensively online to find another of its kind, but I didn't find any.

Another example of the over used dies from the 50's.

Actually this one gained some fame over the years, thanks to Mr. Frank Spadone. He almost caused an uproar with this one. This cent is known as the "San Jose Mint Error" because the die crack next to the mintmark looks like a "J". Some people actually believed that San Jose minted a small number of coins, and this became an instant hit once published. Examples went for dollars on the cent to the coin's actual value for a long time until the "Oddity coin" craze went away with better education in what true errors and varieties are. This one rivals the "comet cent" and the "floating roof cents" - none are especially scarce as what they are, none are true errors or varieties, but a lot of people had fun collecting them until their proposed published value far exceeded their true numismatic value.
