here is 72 1878 VAM's (which is what I collect) in one auction, I don't agree with his pricing but will still knock out all the searching I have been doing but if I would accept a VAM in any grade I would have this many as well but all of mine are MS coins so far and even though I may have to accept a AU here and there before I am finished with the whole 1878 series, there will definitely be nothing under a AU55. Anyhow here is his auction http://cgi.ebay.com/1878-SET-OF-VAM...RS_W0QQitemZ a href= https://www.coincommunity.com/go/link.asp?target=https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/160022050703 target= _blank rel= nofollow 160022050703 /a QQihZ006QQcategoryZ11979QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It always amazes me when sellers are asking thousand's of dollars for there item, but cannot take one decent picture to back up their claim of what their selling. . I realize his feedback is 100% but I still would never bid on something with pictures like that. What he claims to have is pretty exciting thou.

bryan you could always upgrade . the lowest grade I can see he listed is vf w/ alot in the ef and alot in au, and some in Unc.. but you would have to take his word on it. that is the problem I see, not to mention the fortune you spend on getting it

oh I would never buy a set like this (even though it would save allot of time) because I like the thrill of the hunt. I just thought it was interesting that someone else has taken the time to collect 1878 VAM's because they aren't as popular as the 1921's because there is no books on 1878 VAM's specifically like they are for the 1921's. I hope he has quit collecting now that way I will not have that one person competing against me (even though there are still a few more that I wont mention)

Yea, his pictures are not very good. I agree with TLS5933, I would not buy from him either unless he could provide better pics upon request.

Bryan, from what I read in his description, you would be taking downgrades for most (all?) of your 78 VAMs. Is there any one or two Morgans in his list that would augment or improve your collection? Just curious - between his price, the poor images, and his somewhat illiterate description which might call into question the accuracy of his attributions, it would be my guess that this collection is sorely over-rated and not a very good investment. Interesting, however.

He should at least take some close-up pics of the "priciest" VAM's, to let people know that he's not bluffing. If I were him, I'd send them all in to be graded, and he'd make a bundle doing so.

well because the 1878 VAM's aren't widely collected there is a very slim following (which is growing slowly) so getting a XF or AG or anything under a MS-64 wouldn't be very frugal and wouldn't be cost effective considering the grading fee's. If this was a collection of 1921-D Morgans then it may be worth getting graded but it being the 1878 I don't think so. 1878 is more expensive than the 1921's anyway but the following just isn't behind them as of yet except for the few TOP100 or HOT50 coins in the series but the rest just aren't collected enough to actually pay back for the grading, and it would all have to be sent to ANACS because PCGS or NGC just do not attribute many of them. Morgan Fred, the only thing he has that I do not have in BU condition that I can see in his listings is a few 1878-CC VAM's in which I haven't started looking hot and heavy for at this time, I am basically setting my scope on 1878-P at this time and when I get through with the P Morgans I will go to others (even though I do have a few S mints now)

Bryan it seems like you have quite a job ahead of you! How many VAMs are there for just the 78 P coin>?
