I just wanted to see what other members of the community thought about the 1922 no 'D' Lincoln. Is it needed for a complete Lincoln collection? I know there is frequently a space for it in the books. I had pretty much not had it on my radar until yesterday at a coin show. I was offered my choice of 3 different ones, all for $1,000 plus. I took a look at them but decided against them at the time due to not having done any research at all on that particular error. I do recall reading somewhere that if anyone was to consider purchasing one, they should insist on a certified coin as it is frequently counterfeited.
Just wondering what the general consensus is on needing one to complete the series.
I found a weak D to fill the hole in mine and I'm satisfied for now. It's kind of like the 1955 double die. It's an error which I don't really think should be a hole in the book.
Even though there is no D visible it is still a 1922-D cent. And I already have a nice 1922-D cent. Why do I need an ugly one with part of the design missing? That's how I see it.
