IMHO, I think the obverse was sanded down then there was a vise job. The incused reversed devices are indicative to that.

ok, I did find some info, a
" Brockage, Brockage striking error involves a coin blank or planchet and a normally struck coin. This error occurs when a normal coin sticks to the upper die and strikes a blank coin.

In effect, the blank coin will have a mirror image of the stuck coin depressed or incused on the new coin's surface"

what do you think?
thanks, photogame

It couldn't be sanded. The rim is still present. It is a brockage coin. A definite keeper. They look neat. Value, I would wait for Mike Diamond on this one. It's a good one.

Could be, I am no where near an expert on errors. Nice find if it is a mint error.

You have a very nice mirror brockage, that deserves some dancing fruit

I would venture that it is worth $50 or more, mirror brockages are tough to find. Did you get it in circulation?

That is an awesome find! I wonder if there are any known diagnostics to date it?

I have two questions. Have you weighed it (is it silver or clad)? How is the incuse side oriented with to the normal face? My guess is that it should be in the same (medal flip) orientation if this is the result of a stuck coin acting as the die (which is exactly what it looks like to me as well). Based on what I saw in the permanent auction archives at Heritage, I would value it between $50 and $100.

That's needle in a haystack find. Uni-face!

I would guess that would be worth more than $100, maybe $200-300 price range. IMHO!

It's an in-collar, first-strike brockage. A very nice find, worth at least $100.
