I receieved the same e-mail message about a week and a half ago about being backordered expected ship date was 11/24 (on the subscription list). I just checked the status of my order on the US mint website and it is saying my order has been cancelled. What are they doing? Anyone else seeing the same thing?

Glitch and computer error are keywords for "the computer did exactly what we told it to do". I believe that their decision to enter the subscription orders two weeks ahead instead of two days ahead like they had been doing triggered both the back order emails and the cancellations. PBGS simply forgot to check if anything like that would happen when they decided to change procedures. Now not only do they have to fix what they broke, they have to explain to everyone that calls that it wasn't their fault, the computer did it. Yeah, right! According to my two order numbers, they have at least a hundred thousand orders to fix.

Dear United States Mint Customer,
On Wednesday, November 10, 2010, The United States Mint sent email notifications out to customers notifying them that some backordered and subscription items were canceled. This was an error. We are diligently working on a resolution to this issue.
We sincerely apologize for the confusion and inconvenience this may have caused.

Greetings, Have subscription to proof ASE. Checked order on 11/9/2010. Expect order to be shipped 11/24/2010. on 11/11/2010 e-mail "SOLD OUT"! What a crock. Is the mint trying to create another 95 ASE? Can't wait to see after mint sales! After reading messages from CC Family members,I'm hoping that is a computer error!

A pre-sale for 1 piece closed on ebay tonight at over $200! The bidder must have gotten the same e-mail!

Wow, could the Mint screw this up any further? I may just opt to buy a PCGS or NGC slabbed version and avoid this nonsense.

Yes, this is their promise that the subscription orders were cancelled by mistake and they are going to reinstate the orders with the already assigned order numbers and ship as close to FIFO as they always do. Both of my subscriptions still say cancelled in the Track Order area of my account at the mint but it is going to take them some time to make sure that they have put a stop to the software that cancelled the orders in the first place. If they were to simply reinstate the orders now, they would probably get cancelled again right before they are supposed to ship. I am not sure that PBGS even knows what caused the orders to cancel yet.
The orders were entered on the 5th, the backorder notices came on the 8th, and the cancellations on the 11th, each almost exactly 72 hours apart. If they wait until Monday to reinstate the orders, Friday should come before the cancelling software comes around again, even if they haven't figured out how to stop it by then.

I am repeating this in several posts because I know that we tend to read the posts we are most interested in.
As of this morning, both of my SAE subscription orders have been restored with their original order numbers and are scheduled to ship on the 28th. The Track Order pages have been updated but no emails have come in from the mint. Hopefully, they have in fact fixed whatever cause the cancellations in the first place and it won't happen again the day before the coins officially go on sale.
