look at the absolutely clean scratches behind the neck.
the coin is nearly 100 years old......
where was it? kept away from dirt? was it always stored perfectly.
NOW, I am not saying that this coin is not nice. All I am saying is that I personally think it is cleaned. A TPG might think it is ok.
DBM you are the expert. ( by the way, liked what you wrote in the other forum....)
too bad we can not respond...

HHB I think you have confused me with someone else,I am not an expert, and rarely post on the other forum.

I'm definitely not an expert, but that does NOT look cleaned, and without knowing the details of the strike for that issue I can't say whether it would be an AU/MS grade. However, on first look my guess would be MS63ish. Again, I don't know anything about the strikes for this issue, where the wear points are, etc.

Are you serious? You don't think a coin can be in that shape after 90 years without being cleaned? That's just wrong on principle.

Sometimes it's tricky to distinguish wear from strike.
To my eyes, the luster points to a MS coin.

It's possible to have an MS coin with what look like jewels in the vertical band of the crown?
