Bobby, you and I were in the building at the same time, then - I play in Barb & Walt's territory, too and we were at Cities that year. I might have even watched your match. Heck, we may have played against each other in the tournament. Did you see her exhibition with Steve Mizerak (RIP)?

No I missed that one. Did you see JR Calvert break a cue ball in half on a break? Hit the 1 ball and self-destructed. Now that was cool! If I didn't see it with my own 2 eyes I'd of never believed it.

Hi Dave, Susan and Bobby, It's a real pleasure to find fellow pool afficionados here. I too played at the Riviera, in an APA Nationals, back in the early 90s and I really had a great time. I played for Break N Run of 29 Palms, CA and Foster's of Yucca Valley in the suceeding years. The collection is my grandfather's and started around 1910. My father inherited it and dabbled in it a bit and I contibuted a couple which are the NCGS MS63 $10 gold, the Brittania 25 and 10 Pounds Proof set and some Proof $1 silvers that I got while I was in Reno and California. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to appreciate this collection and so does my father who's 75 years old. We hate for these to go unappreciated thus I suggested that he put it up for sale. Our dilemma is that he hasn't been spending any time with the collection since the '70s that he, and I, don't have a clue of its value nor what has went on in the coin collecting world plus grading agencies are inaccessible from here or we're just to scared to let the collection out of our sight. I am hoping for a situation as to how I was discovered internationally. How that went was that I sent pictures to major collectible cue dealers and one of them took the risk of coming here and checking me and my work out personally. Well, he got exclusive distributorship of my cues and equipment inventions since 1998 and all this finalized with just a handshake. If someone will take a chance to fly over, discuss the value of the collection and come up with an agreeable purchase price then it's all his/hers. I'll even take care of the hotel accomodations at the Ambassador Hotel and local travel arrangement for sight-seeing. Edwin Reyes<< collection has other Spanish gold coins, US silver, Spanish silver, Phil during US occupation (first coins minted here) and bills. The former PNAS President, Dr. de Jesus, said back then remarked that this collection has the choicest pieces here in the Philippines.

Hi all, thank you for all the letters and assistance offered but I do feel that my info has been inadequate. To rectify the situation, I went and purchased a camera, Sony DSC-W100, to better show details of the specimen. Photos, though self-produced, may help all those who kindly extended their help and offered possible routes for me to take. I hope the quality of the photos are good enough.

Thank you Susan. While sorting and photographing the coins, I accidentally realized what the former President of the Philippine Numismatic and Antiquarian Society was referring to. The Spanish 8 Escudos (1791-1818) are a set that tells a story. The 1791 Carlos IIII was the start of a story and you may notice it in the photos (I will post more of the set). The 1816 and 1817 Ferdin VII minted in Santiago and 1818 Ferdnd VII, with NR mint mark, still displayed a bust of Carlos IIII! An 1817 Ferdin VII with the M mint mark showed a bust of a younger man with a wreath on his head! I'm wondering if this means that these minters just replaced the letters around Carlos IIII's bust? I'll post more pics of the other coins in this years, 1791-1818 gold 8 Escudos.

Here's another 8 Escudos. My dad had a bezel made for it but my mom didn't even use it. ]

Ferdin VII 1817 M mint mark 8 Escudos See what I'm referring to? What happened in the Spanaish South American mints during that time? Did the Spanish South American mints rush production of these coins even without getting a portrait of Ferdin VII because of the gold they took from the Incas? Are these considered "mistrucks"?
