Ok, So I have had this for a few years.... I know its real. I have been debating how to handle the coin.... this is the research I have found so far. in 1973 they struck many different types with different amounts and values of aluminum zinc, etc... when they decided on a clad, they passed out roughly 32 pieces, I inherited a coin collection from my grandmother in 2000, by collection I mean a Massive tin of about 800 coins. She worked as a waitress for years across the street from the capitol building at a restaurant and as a cashier at a grocery store. Anytime she would get a cool or unusual coin or bill she would save it. This coin was in her jug, it was one of the cool ones she told me about before she passed, she received it within her tip from a group of assumed congress/senators in for lunch. So I have also researched and found that any known piece will be confiscated so I have placed the coin with someone where I even do not know where it is. I can get it anytime I wish.. lol My question is, The story from the researching I am doing states that the coin will become legal 100years after the striking, that way if stolen that it will not benefit the person who stole it. Is this true? Is this a coin that I should just pass down to my daughter and when shes 64 years old she can ream the benefits if she decides to sell it? It was suggested to me by a person who deals with these to seek out a private collector to complete his coin collection. I know it has value how ever if I wanted to move the coin, is it illegal? I will post a picture of the coin as well

What is the weight? I would also post this in the modern error forum where it belongs. We have many error experts that frequent that forum. I have also heard of the confiscations of some of the 74 aluminum cents as they were never meant to be an official issue.

I can't figure where the confiscation/100 year info come from, but if its real gosh it'd be worth a fortune! Good luck!

If genuine, this is an extremely important coin.

Try cropping the picture to the coin, then open them with paint and you can resize them (to like 50%) and save to less than 90K without losing much coin detail.
