coop, I agree with you to a point, and while I do like this coin, I keep thinking I could probably sell this on ebay without being deceptive. There are some folks out there that have more money than brains and I always enjoy running into them.I also found a red 72 DDO-006 the in the same bag, but I'll bet the 69-S would bring more on ebay.We all know what they say about one man's trash...

We also know what they say about deceptive selling practices, so be careful to announce that this is NOT a doubled die, and that it is a far more common form of doubling that has nothing to do with doubled dies. Remember that your audience is by and large uneducated in the field, and have no clue that these are actually very common and easy to find. I personally see it as a waste of time, but that's for you to determine.
Let me ask you this - would you feel guilty at all if this sold for $30 to someone who obviously doesn't really understand what it is?

I was thinking of calling it exactly what it is to be sure. Would I feel guilty about $30...no...some people want what they want regardless.. I've sold holed/patched coins that were described perfectly..and gotten top dollar. But again,I will never lower myself to the deceptive practices I see on ebay. I have a return policy to be sure they get every benifit of the doubt.

I just recently started looking for error coins and I have a hard time with the difference between DD and Machine Doubling. is there a good site for point of reference on this?

golduster, I usually do a search on this site and get plenty of pics and posts on any given subject.I'm sure there are sites also but I'm not sure enough about the rules to be directing you to another site.Try the search feature at the top of this page.

Coop, Thank you for taking the time to put the pic. together it is a big help. It will take some time to train the eye to catch the difference.

Coop always has some great and educational pics...goldduster, once you get a couple in hand, you'll soon see the difference prtty easily.

Having one in hand is also a great way to tell why they are not from a doubled die. Keep posting images and you will find one. Check the 1968-1971 Cents. They are chocked full of them those years.

BadThad, that's exactly what it was too..near heart attack, then the let down...but really, now I'm getting attached to it...might not have the value, but the look is still there. I have a proof 69-S with MD too, but not as prominant.
