Hey everyone.

I'm curious as to what everyone is going to get for Christmas, as far as coins go, or what you plan on giving. So please post what your gifts are and to who, or what you got and from who.

I'll start. I'm giving my grandpa (who got me started on collecting coins about 20 years ago) Q. David Bowers' book on Morgan dollars. Inside the book are hidden an 1878 CC and an 1878 S.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I got an 1837 Large Cent from my sister. She doesn't exactly like collecting, but she was happy to see the look on my face.

I bought myself a nice 1827 Large Cent for my type set and my wife got me the 1901-2000 Standard Catalog of World Coins. If you find me wondering around on the darkside, blame my wife

I did not get anything coin related this year, but I never expect anything since I have asked those that know I collect to not buy coins.

A 2010 ASE proof, a Mercury dime, an Indian Head penny, 1943 steel penny, nice '45 wheatie. All from folks that know I collect -- very kind of them :)

jbuck, thst is the best advice you can give your loved ones. It is too easy to get taken and ripped off if you have an idea what you are doing.

I got two sets from my g/f's grandfather. First is a 20th Century Nickel Set with a 1936D buffalo, 1949 Jefferson, 1945P Jefferson and 1907 Liberty nickels. They grade from Good to VF. The other set is a WWI and WWII Lincoln Cent collection 1914-1918 and 1941-1945. It has a 1942S and a 1944S. He doesn't collect, but knows I do. They are cool sets and the thought was very nice.

That is exactly why I tell them that.

Besides my parents when I was a kid, the only person that ever gives me anything coin related is my wife's aunt. Her late husband was a collector and learned a thing or two from him. She has never bought me anything expensive, but knows that an old, customer wrapped cent roll is worth at least 50 cents.
