I guess I'll be the first one to ask if you have any better pics? I think I see what you are seeing.

Indian Head Cent--1888/7?
There are several markers in the date area and rim.
I wouldn't offer my opinion on just the pic above.
Here are a few pics of the 1888/7 Snow-1 to compare; there are several markers easily seen.
It's one of the rarest US overdates out there; I think total known is under 30 examples.

The die also has this rim Cud:

Much clearer pics are needed to make this determination.

The rim Cud is not on all of the overdates. Although your coin would be real if you had the Cud, just because you do not have the Cud does not mean you don't have the real overdate. Can we see a picture of the full obverse and full reverse of your coin?

I once made that observation to Rick Snow, since I've seen the Cud varies by coin. To paraphrase, he told me you should expect the rim Cud on an authentic 1888/7. Anyone have a pic of this overdate without the rim Cud?

The obverse is slightly fuzzy, but from what I can make out...the date position differs from the 1888/7 Snow-1
Every obverse die has the date impressed in a slightly different position--it's the first marker I look for on any major IHC variety.

I've had false alarms on this coin all the time. Now that I've seen photos of half the known specimens, it's getting easier to spot.

There are a few obverse dies with a very similar date position, which is why the rim Cud is a quick check.

compare the position of the "1" in 1888 to the point of the bust against the pic I posted.
