Eazy 4 figures.
I would grade it and send it to hertiage right away. But thats just me As time goes on only more might be found. A person could even dump a 1992 5000 coin mint bag open and release 1'000s of them in circulation. It could happen
It hard to tell what its worth in the future. The 2000 gold eagle had its " tail feathers varity " sold for $10,000 then 20 more showed up and the last sold at hertiage for $3,000, yikes what if it was the same coin .....ooouch
Dont know about the whole MAD thing , it will prob subtract from the value.
I would not clean it AT ALL , its a rare circulation find. No need in cleaning a circulated coin , you only risk is being labled as " cleaned " when its graded.
If anything a lil soapy water
congrats on the find !
If you collect , then save . If not then sell.

Wolf-n-Wa, did you find that here? That might be a first--I seem to recall the rest were found back east. I better check these from now on....

Just a quick update on this coin. I took it to the F.U.N. show with me and traded it for a '98 WAM. Just kidding. As much as I wanted to stand in line all day long and have PCGS look at it for an opinion, I ended up letting Randy Campbell inspect it. He seemed mildly impressed, but also had 6 gazillion other coins to look at. He said he would slab it AU58, but did not mention anything about the spots (or my photography). The coin is now on it's way back to Wolf where (I think) I have talked him into taking it to his local PCGS authorized dealer to have submitted and attributed. The ball is now in his court and I will be sitting here with the rest of you. Good luck Wolf! Keep us posted bro!

Indeed .... looking forward to hearing how this turns out ..... although it will be a while to get back from a TPG. BTW .... what is the forum consensus on where Wolf should send this great coin ..... PCGS has the 'best reputation' for slabbed value ... but are they also the best at variety attribution? To my comment a few pages ago on value .... the 2010 RedBook on Page #120 lists this coin (1992-D Close AM) in MS-65 at $500. Pleased to hear for Wolf that this is hopefully way under. Sooooo ..... It's headed to PCGS as we speak. Only 40 days and we'll see what it is. Crossing my fingers it don't get body bagged. WOLF

I'd say at least 1000 collectors would happily pay $500 for wolf's coin, and it's one of only a couple dozen!
What an incredible find -- and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Thanks for the update Wolf! I didn't see anything that would keep it from coming back as an AU58, without the bodybag. But, I've been surprised before at what they do bag. A certain '24-D comes to mind, but that's another story. Keep us posted!

wolf sweet coin definately deserves dancing fruit I'm still looking for this one, when I finally find it I will have found at least one of each of the "known" circulation strikes. Hmmm A fellow CCF member gave me a 98WAM and within a week I found 3 of my own, a roll searcher at work gave me his 99WAM to store until he sold it and I found mine 3 days later. I don't suppose you would be up for letting me borrow the 92D for a week or 2 would ya? just kidding Kie
