Just dropped a bid at the last minute and got this for $10 shipped! Not sure if its worth that, but it is to me so I'm happy. I would appreciate any grade opinions and comments as well, Thanks.   |

It would be easier to tell with closer pics, but it sure looks like MS at least... A good pick up, wheats like that don't come around like that very often... Very good buy  |

Well, it's between 1944 and 1948. That's as much as I can round it down.
Hate to say, but I do not think the clip is genuine. It does not have the weakness of detail near the cut that I would expect.

I agree with Coppercoins. I don't think its a genuine incomplete planchet either. I see no evidence of the "Blakesley effect" nor any weakness of detail near the clip zone. I do hope I am wrong. Good luck.

I was some what worried about the absence of weakness in the detail also but was hoping my opinion would change when I got it in hand.
Coppercoins, curiose as to how you can tell its between those years?

I don't know.
I see a weak and flattened rim on the opposite side of the missing area that looks like Blakesley's effect to me. Plus, Blakesley's effect does not have to be present, it is just another diagnostic.

If it was sheared off you will see the burrs. A burr down where the blade came down and a burr out at the exit side.
If it was sawed off you would probably see some traces of saw marks.

Close ups of the areas next to the clip might tell the picture for all to see the lack of weakness in that area.

I'm 100% positive it's a genuine 1943 copper Lincoln Cent and I challenge anyone to prove me wrong lol lol ! Nice buy , congratulations ! |

Actually it's a 1948. I should have known better the first time I posted. There is, however, no way to tell which mint it's from.

The shape of the top of the 4 in the date...it was only used one year. 1948.
