The coin looks like a slider to me with a lot of bag marks , the pics look enhanced big time.

Funky pics, never know until you get the coin in hand. I can't offer an opinion except to stay away if you get a bad vibe. 1928's in MS red are common enough. You should make a trip up to:
Main Street Coin 4942 Dixie Hwy (Route 4) Fairfield, OH 45014
Call me before you go so I can go too! LOL I've only been there twice and it's been a long time. They usually have a lot to nice wheats to select from.

Might be an AU-58 that has been dipped. I've been experimenting with some low value 1950's coins I got in the junk bin and a dipped AU looks VERY MUCH like that piece.

Thanks for the input everyone. I look at hundreds of coins on ebay for every one I buy. This one hit my "not sure" meter - which typically means stay away for me - but wanted to get other opinions. Thad - I actually went to Main Street Coin between Christmas and New Years. Got a couple of nice Lincolns and a good deal on them too. Maybe we can do a road trip soon when I have some more money!

This is exactly why I never buy on ebay. Photos can be touched up, lighting sometimes makes things look better than real life, you may not get what is shown, photos may be of something else, etc. Yes some come out OK on ebay but most of the people I know have not had to much good luck. Once in a while yes, but usually no. Really got to know what your doing on ebay.

Ken -COOL! It's an old shop and they have a ton of material in there, don't they? Who gave you prices? Do you know if it was Mike or Joe? Those two guys started the biz, Mike really knows his stuff. I've solicited his opinion quite a few times. Have you been to Hyde Park Rare Coin yet?

I actually talked to Scott at Main Street. I've since seen him in the commercials they've been running lately on TV! Good guy, really enjoyed talking to him. I bought a nice red uncirculated 1933-D - probably a 63-64 for $21 and an uncirc. 1921 that had a few light hairlines (probably from an old cleaning) but had retoned into a neat looking coin that I thought was a bargain for $20. He also showed me a few others that made my heart race - a 1799 Bust Dollar, a Seated Half Proof, and an MS-61/62 3 cent silver. Out of the current budget for now though! p.s. Haven't been to Hyde Park Coin yet - kind of a high class neighborhood for me!

Carl - I've found I've got to look at A LOT of coins to find the worthwhile ones on ebay. I've gotten some nice coins there, but as I said, A LOT (hundreds, maybe thousands) go by with a quick look and a "not interested". There are some deals out there and some gems, but you are right in that it takes some time to learn the ropes and know what to look for - as well as some work involved to do so. A lot of my reason for posting these is to confirm my feeling that these were best to "pass" on.
