NGC is recognizing the Silver Anniversary. Nothing yet from the Mint?!? I really like the label and the edge-view support on the NGC slab!

Well for those who believe in the myth of first struck coins... here is an "early releases" label; The problem with them being the early strikes, with fresh dies, is just the way that they are packed and shipped. They "could" be early strikes, but being received for grading within the first 30 days of release is no guarantee! I am still waiting on my RAW ones to arrive, when they do I will add them here!

I hope they put a set together like they did with the 20th anniversary but I doubt they will since they haven't made the burnished coin in the past 2 years stating how short they are with silver. If they do I know it will cost more than the 100.00 the 20th anniversary sets cost from the mint then. If they do and are cheap enough I may try to get another 20 sets of them also as Christmas presents like I did with the 20th ann. sets

My RAW coins arrived this morning, so I took a couple of pics before updating my sets. Here they are!

Remember that Early Release (NGC) and First Strike (PCGS) coins could easily have been minted from die that were about to be retired (late die state). By the time the first coins are shipped, hundreds if not thousands of die pairs have been used up by the mint. I don't expect any special 25th packaging from the mint unless they do in fact make the uncirculated coin and even then it won't be anything like adding a reverse proof to the mix (which they now can and should do). We can only hope that if they do anything that it will be something more than just a special package. A real special coin, like the 2006 "reverse" proof but different than that, would be nice.

Isn't any "25th Anniversary" recognized as a " Silver Anniversary" ? ... The Mint should NOT have done ANYTHING for the 20th anniversary, but instead done something special for the "25th"... How proper and appropiate this "would" have been........ ahhhh.... The Mint strikes again ! .... Another golden opportunity lost/messed up on Congress and the Mint....

I too was waiting to hear if the Mint was going to do something special for the silver anniversary of the silver eagle. My favorite coin from the Mint is the 20th anniversary reverse proof coin. What a beautiful coin, it radiates beauty.

I agree. Especially if they discover that it would sell very well (as it should).

Johnny thank you for posting pictures of the 20th anniversary edition, it just makes me smile when I see that reverse proof coin and marvel what a pretty coin. And Condor you are right the Mint usually waits to the end of the year to do its best stuff. So I guess we will have to be vigilant and keep an eye on the Mint.
