Here's another doubled-die I forgot I had, showing partial doubling on the legends. The doubling on the top of STR might be something else. Check out the doubled "K" on the designer initials (KG). The last pic is an overlay showing possible displacement.  You have to squint and compare this overlay to the detail shots above. The star and doubled K are easy to see.

How did I miss these last couple of updates?  meicoin -  to CCF That looks more like Die Deterioration Doubling to me. I don't think it's what I would call a true doubled die. coinbuyer - can you get a little bigger pic of your coin? Thanks for joining the thread! DVC - how did I miss your post? That one is pretty cool!  I think your overlay presents a pretty good argument for the displacement.

Thanks Scooby! Something I just realized with that DDR: one would expect to see the "56" in the date doubled, unless it was added to the die later--which must be the case here. There are date varieties on Australian coins into the 50s.
