As I buy more and more LWCs, my bag of "culls/AG/dirty ugly" wheats keeps getting fuller. Do people buy culls/AG/dirty ugly wheats? Are they worth saving? Even though they are in bad condition, they are still copper. Most culls seem to be from 1910-1930.

Here's an aside: While looking through rolls of cents, I can tell which cents are from the '60's and which are from the '90's (without reading the date) because they have a different look. The ones from the '90's/'00's look cheap, while the earlier ones have a better color/look to them. The 1968 cents seem to all have a thick solid date, as opposed to the thinner '90's dates.

besides copper price culls from the teens to the 30s are this roll searchers hope in every roll I open so I would say yes they have a premium

and on your side note a game I play with myself when searching is spotting copper before I look at the date I would say 75% time I can get it right

I guess I play that game too, I can spot a '60's coin most of the time without seeing the date. The coins back then were nicer and the copper for the '60's cents were definately different looking than the cheap looking '90's zinc cents.

Are you saying roll searchers actually like getting wheat culls/AG?

Cull wheat better than shiny zinc any day.

I think the pre-zinc Lincolns seem to be struck in higher relief than the zincolns. It seems like it got especially bad in the 90's as you say. I can almost always tell copper from zinc just by look and feel alone.

I agree. I think every 1968 cent I have has a thick solid date. But, I guess the US Mint and the Fed don't care about quality and how long these coins will last.

Logic states that an ugly cull/AG LWC is less worthy than a shiny new red coin, but logic can fool you, I guess, because people don't know the composition of coins.

Yep, and you know what is really nice? When you see the back of one of those and you think..."ya that's going to be a ninety" you flip it over and it's a 60. A really nice 60.

The way some of the '90's and 00's are looking (that I've seen), I don't expect them to last as long as the wheats. The reverse lettering is fading already.

Online, I compared a 2010 cent with a 1960 cent and it looks like the 1960 cent has more of a thicker beard.

I think I'm looking to wait a while and possibly accumulate more culls while searching LWC rolls. I wish one of those culls was a 1922.
If the roll of Lincoln 2010 Shields has the US Mint wrapper, then I would trade.
