I'm sorry but I don't know what this F stands for? I only know of S & D
So hoping anyone can explain this, and maybe grade the coin... it lok like it has a partial weak strike at: Liberty?

The F is the initial of the designer.

Wow, nice nickel. AU at least, but hard to tell if any luster based on the lighting. the few light scratches on the Indian's jaw also would hold it back from MS I think.

thanks guys... so this is the normal 1915 version, I was thinking huh F...? but indeed it looks very nice, I think the lustre is indeed to light perspective in this case... but cool coin nonetheless

Any idea for how much I would buy this approximatly in this condition
Or can I just hold on the catalogue value for this coin..? thanks again!

Nice Buffalo nickel!

And just for your (and everyone else's) information, the mint mark (the S & D you refer to) on the Buffalo nickel are on the reverse bottom (like the below) not the obverse like the F.

so anyone on a price range yet? I'm curious, because a lot of European (pre euro) coinage are often a lot cheaper the the standard catalogue value... But me guess is that the prices in the U.S. are more in the range of some of the values given in various catalogues, or am I wrong? Anyway, would love to hear an "appraisal" :)

1915 Indian Head (Buffalo) Nickel

Minted: 20,986,220

Price at EF-40 = $22 USD
Price at AU-50 = $52 USD

(2010 RedBook)

I would grade this nice Buffalo at EF-45 so split the difference = $40
