I was wondering if anyone could help explain this penny I found a few years ago. It is a 1954-S that has the date and mint mark messed up, the cent itself is near perfect for its age, still looks new. I hope you can see what I mean by the picture.
I have another 1954-S that has some crud in the bottom loop of the 5 and the 4 has a double look to it.
Just wondering if collectors look like these kinds of errors.

1954-S-Penny
Thanks again, Anton

These coins both show normal wear and tear of the die as it is used. Neither are errors, and neither really command any numismatic value because of the die wear, cracks, etc. With that being said, they can sell on ebay for a few dollars to curious beginner collectors, but they are buying them on the premise that they must have value, which is incorrect...

I sure appreciate the info, I always put aside any coins like this. Not really into errors but I have a few that are like this from different dates. I have a 43 steel that the 43 has a double look to it and a few others but am no expert on errors so
I just put them up and every few years go through them or add to them. I will let the grand kids deal with them after I am gone, thanks again.
