Hi all,
My daughter discovered this in her money box. She wants to know what she might get for it on ebay, as she's saving up for lego :)
Although, it has sparked an interest in coins, so who knows. She may want to keep it.

Looks like a partial collar. I'm not sure on pricing with world coin errors. ebay has been a good place to sell errors lately though, prices are up in general.

It's hard to say what people will pay on ebay, it's often the description or time of day that makes some items go cheap or over the top expensive. My thoughts are around $30-50, it is a very nice partial collar error -slightly tilted I think. From your images it has a nice sharp edge milling error and no obviously detracting serious marks or dings.

(Some sellers on ebay incorrectly term these coins as partical collars which always gives me a laugh)

Nice coin, you have a bid. Some call me a dollar nut, I can't resist a good dollar error.

Indeed - better than I hoped! I sorta feel a bit guilty - it was just an odd looking coin in with the rest after all.
Still, my daughter is very excited! It looks like a trip to buy Lego tomorrow ;)
Thanks to all of you for your advice and support....I think you've inspired a young numismatist.

Oh, by the way, what would be the most appropriate means of postage?
I could go and get one of those cardboard display holders and put it in a thick envelope, or just wrap in some paper with tape and put in a standard envelope?
What would a coin collector expect from such a delivery?
Cheers!

A 2x2 (cardboard display holder)would be fine, probably not completely necessary, but try to pack it in such a way that the contents of the envelope are not obvious to anyone handling it. Cut out a piece of cardboard a little smaller than twice the size of your envelope, fold it in half, place the 2x2 inside, seal around the open sides and place in envelope. Please don't use tape of any type anywhere near the coin. Taping the envelope is OK, just not in the vicinity of the coin or 2x2.

If I had paid $60+ for a single coin, I would insist on registered mail, it only costs something like an extra $2.90 and so far I have never had a Registered letter disappear.

Item number: 160539183575
Bid history: 14 bids
Winning bid: AU $63.01

even if the young lady doesn't become a collector, she can see the value of Noodling - she's turned $1 into $63 - and that's hard to beat, either at the track, or at the exchange.
