Hello everyone Thanks again for all the warm welcome, it great to find a form where a rookie like myself is made feel so comfortable. The coin is a 1921 P Morgan, I picked it up for $25.00 and though it was a bargain. (Should I get this coin graded) If anyone has a guess of the value that would be great, I am still learning how to grade my Morgans and the problem I have is even though I can compare them to photos, until I have no idea if I am doing it correctly. Thank to all Alan

You could get it graded if you want, as it appears to me right now (though I'm no expert on Morgan's and this is only basing on the reverse) it looks to be at least VF+, but could possibly be XF. If you were to get it graded I don't know how much value that would add but whatever value it gained might be offset of by the cost of getting it graded.Without your error it would be about $20 but w/ the error it basically depends on who you're selling it to.
You might want to keep it anyway, it's a nice coin.

Thanks for your input. And as fare as selling it goes, your correct. I think I will keep this one safe at home.

I think (but not 100% sure) he was referring to your coin as having a D2 reverse which is only found on 1921's. The 16 berry reverse (D2 reverse) refers to 1921-P Morgan dollars with a reverse type that does not include an "extra berry" on the right side of the wreath, which is found on some 21-P reverses that are also known as the 17 berry (D1 reverse) reverse types Entire missing letters on Morgan dollars due to Grease Filled Dies while not rare are very scarce and are true United States mint errors. You would have to pay the additional fee to have it mint error designated as well as graded. It is certainly a nice curiosity and conversation piece.

Hey Everyone I was wondering, if I put up some photos of some of my Morgans over the next week or so. Would be willing to help me grade them and see if I'm improving my gradings skills? Cheers Alan
