Compared to 20+ years ago, ALL of these online coin dealers are awesome.........they keep me employed (because now I have to keep working longer for retirement after spending so much)......agree that not all the websites are easy to steer through, but after spending a few minutes, the basic setup and navigation is fairly easy on all of them. Although I still like to shop in person at a physical store or at a coin show, I do make quite a few online purchases from all of these mentioned. Keep up the good work I say ! (and keep me broke) !

If you order from C/A regularly they have a VIP club but you have to ask about it to join it is not advertised anywhere I don't think but it gets you 5% off everything you order. Hope this helps someone

Totallly agree with glenzy here:

"I find almost all seller's who have a brick and mortar store and also sell on E-bay have the "highest prices" for coins. Perhaps overhead costs?"

I will preface following remarks with full disclosure that I compete with these type of sellers with my on-line ebay store...

I would add that in many cases these sellers with brick & mortar stores seem to have very high shipping charges... plus you will always pay sales tax.

And it has been my experience that it's harder to negotiate a discount price, as can often be achieved with other ebay sellers.

I'm guessing that there may be an assumption that the brick & mortar store operator may have more integrity or accountability or knowledge... not sure that's a valid assumption one can make.

There's lots of great sellers out there who don't have the overhead of brick & mortar store... as long as you are buying online from a trusted ebay seller with a history of great feedback, I can't see the advantage of paying more than you need to for an assumption that may not be warranted.

It's a buyers market out there on ebay right now, and if you're patient you can find what you want at a great price.

Take care, and Have a Great Monday!

I live close to their store and enjoyed ordering from them online so I drove down today to see what it was like and avoid shipping charges. Perhaps my expectations were high but I did not have a very good experience. It was a very small store with a lot of employees and it honestly seemed like all the business they were doing was in bullion. I brought 4 junk silver dimes and a 1940 penny that I found just to see what they would say. For businesses like this where I am considering establishing a long-term relationship I like to size them up with low value items to see how they act. It's like how if you want to learn what a person is really like, observe how they treat people when making an order at McDonalds or Tim Hortons. You will learn what they are really like. Well...the "appraiser" looked at the coin for about 2 seconds and said it was worth about face value. I told him I disagreed and he brought out a CCN from September of 2011. No idea why they use such an old trends with customers but anyways...He looks again and we decide it's probably AU-MS (100-300x face). Which is only 1-3 dollars but that brings me back to customer service. If you decide to treat me poorly because a 1-3 dollar coin isn't worth your time, don't expect me to buy anything from your store or bring in anything valuable. Looked at some nickels which were all at exactly trend prices. It is cheaper and easier to use their online store so I may only ever go there again for bullion because I was happy getting $1.00 each for the junk dimes. Although without the added numismatic draw it's probably not worth the drive. No one there seemed interested in my business so I bought some 2x2's I needed and left.

Reading these comments reminded me of when I saw a 'bay listing of theirs a couple years ago. I inquired about a flaw on the item - was it just the photo , the plastic sleeve , or actually on the banknote ? The auction was ending soon and when I received a reply that it was just the photo , the auction had ended, no bids. Waited and it was relisted in a couple of days, the price was increased about 10%. Sorta shady, they lost my business.

I found it odd to see them bid up and buy stuff at live auctions, and then see them a week later list on ebay the items they won (banknotes in this case) for buy it nows about 20% lower than their original bid/win prices. I know how much they payed, and knew they were the same banknotes (serial number is a giveaway).

We also compete with these sellers as well through our website and ebay store . There is no control over the collection of sales taxes. @ Cameron 93 ... in BC if you do over 10 K in a year you MUST collect BC sales tax from BC residents and over 30 K must be registered for GST/ HST collection depending on the Province/Territory you ship to. If not you are just plain breaking the law.
Also Colonial Acres is right about the shipping costs they are losing money on shipping and handling. Having had a bricks and mortar store in the past and now a web based operation, there is one thing common to both,,,,,,,,,, you MUST cover your expenses or are doomed to failure. Paccoin.com

I have used them in the past and found them pretty good, except for my shipment of 1999 millennium sets. I know for a fact that atleast 2 of the 3 were tampered with. reason being, inside cardboard folds were actually completely sepearated. wouldn't trust them with anything like that anymore, but I still buy mint sealed rolls, etc from them.

I buy from J&M since I live close to their physical store. Shipping wouldn't apply if I just walk in. Colonial Acres, in my opinion, charges a high shipping price.

They were probably checked for mules. Pretty shady.
