I'm not surprised. 1892 was the second-highest mintage of Morgan Proofs, exceeded only by 1880, and it's easy to believe there'd be plenty of unslabbed examples around. The seller has always made me a touch uneasy, though.

Great southern uses trick photography. I'm sure the coin is proof but I suspect it is seriously impaired in hand

yeah I have heard about their photography skills from quite a few different people that have ordered coins from them. They always have allot of nice ungraded coins for sale and they all usually bring pretty high prices because of their photography skills. I don't know if anyone has ever gotten a cleaned coin when it was supposed to be problem free but they have mostly said it didn't look quite as good in hand as it did in the pictures

Yeah it probably isn't cleaned but dark/ugly toning would not surprise me they can take a jet black coin and make it look bright silver and booming with color

Yes, they have 5 listed at this moment and at least 1 a week. I have never bought from them, but like most, I haven't heard good things.

I would be wary. I bought a MS red 1902 IHC from them and it ended up having an altered color so I was obviously disappointed. I haven't looked at their coins since. I've heard similar things from others, but they must make some people happy as they sell a ton of coins.

His photography is definitely enhanced. Never bought from them, and won't.

These kind of coins are best purchased when they are graded by a respected third party grader such as PCGS, NGC and ANACS. Even then, care should be taken as to authenticity.
I would never purchase a higher dollar coin raw unless I was certain what I was purchasing, sure of the grade and even then I would be very cautious.

I can only emphasize OZ's comment, why buy a coin in this condition when not graded by a
TPG.. Its an obviously high dollar value...BUT....There pre-emptive is the masses want RAW coins.....supposedly so you can get a great deal by buying there enhanced photo's implying a better grade for less money....
with there no questions asked return policy... how can any one rebuke them for continuing to re-list the same gorgeous coins over and over, as they have been returned... but will receive positive feed back.. for the returned coins...

Can the average Joe tell the difference between a nice business strike and a proof? Even in hand? There is a very good reason why these things are not already in TPG holders (and it isn't because the masses want raw coins)...... How fast can you get this coin to a TPG and back? Within the 10 calendar day "no questions asked return policy" parameters? How much would you have to spend trying to do that?

ANY proof Morgan dollar should be slabbed. They are quite scarce and should be authenticated, especially with all the sleaze coming out of China.

Never buy an unslabbed four-figure coin unless it's gold priced near melt.
