What do you think we'll see from the RCM this year? Possibilities: - Royal wedding commemorative - 100th anniversary commemorative of the 1911 silver dollar - 100th anniversary of the ascension of Edward VII (the "Godless" series) - 100th anniversary of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada

These are good possibilities. In generic terms, what I hope to see from the RCM this year is a reduction in NCLT at least to give us some breathing room. I hope to see better quality for Proof and UNC coins. As always, I hope for lower mintage. - My wife would like to see coins about Canadian bridges. - Special circulation 25 cents replacing the Queen on the obverse with each provincial PM. - More silver coins like $20 for $20 - An aluminum 1 cent (keep the penny alive!) - A $5 titanium coin >> coins are what we collect. let's hope for more of them, not less.

Would like to see aviation and space coins in the 20 dollar sets similar to the 1990-99 sets. Any hope.

I'd like to see them use the toning process they used on the 4 dollar dinos on something else - planes, ships, pin up girls... whatever. Each one is different and attractive. Lots of fun.

10th Anniversary of the 90th Anniversary Silver Dollar.
But seriously, I'd like to see more of the special silver maple leaf varieties, e.g., the 1 oz Wolf, upcoming Bear, etc. Nice coins & reasonably priced.

I have heard that there is a coin re the 1911 silver dollar,I have not seen it but I know it's not from the RCM. Probably from something like the Franklin mint.

> 10th Anniversary of the 90th Anniversary Silver Dollar. Yeah, I don't know what it is with the mint and 90th anniversaries. The same thing happened in 1998 with the 90th anniversary of the RCM, and then the 100th went by with only a little fanfare (nice $1). And also 2002 with the 90th anniversary of the $5/$10 gold coins (a spectacular pair). Still, imagine the sets that never were at tributes: Set in case No. 7a: 1c through $1 (never issued) Set in case No. 7: 1c through $1 plus gold £1 sovreign, $5, and $10 (patterns of those last two were created) (never issued) Set in case No. 7d (1c through 50x plus plus gold 1911c £1 sovreign, and 1912 dated $5, and $10 was issued (issued at $24) I think that commemorating the history of Canadian coinage is definitely what the mint should be doing with NCLT.

This might be a bit off topic, however, I am relatively new to Canadian coins. So, here we go...
Who decides in Canada which event/person/anniversary/ect. gets honoured or commemorated on ---circulation coins (basically 25c, $1 and $2 in the last few years) ---NCLT coins
Here in Germany, it is ultimately the Bundesfinanzministerium (Federal Treasury Dept.) that decides what's commemorated on the 2 Euro coins -- the other Euro circulation denominations are off limits -- and on the German NLTC (10 Euros, 20 Euros, 100 Euros) The five German mints just produce the coins.
So, how is it done in Canada?

the PL sets in china were up on ebay awhile back, I got a winning bid at $15, but cancelled it because I couldn't find any official info about it. Chances are, ebay (not ebay US) will have some.

Some lowlife company has already made a Cooks Island 1911-2011 coin. It's supposed to be a "replica" of a rare coin from back then but it's a piece of junk. I hate coin commercials.

A Titanium coin would be intersting.
I'm actually quite content with the wildlife series... can't wait for the grizzlies and others!

Wow. Our PM's were pretty well all as ugly as I am. Not that the monarch's are anything to write home about, but they are what they are. Leave the PM's on the paper money where they belong ;) They be ugly buggers.
Actually, one thing I'd like to see are something different with the pennies. There's been a special issue of pretty much everything, but given the sheer scrutiny the penny has received lately as to it's supposed non value, I'd like to see it bolstered with a change up... maybe birds or flowers, something that would show nicely on the copper plate.
