I found a whole series of these from what seems to be from an early stage to what you see on the picture. Are these the beginnings of a Cud or cracked die?

I haven't heard anything from anyone...should I post a different picture? I'm just wondering what kind of error this is. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Are these the beginnings of a CUD

My understanding is that a Cud is connected to the rim. I believe what you have found is a die chip. I think its pretty cool.

It's definitely a 2007 P. I will post some a video with the progression of the die chip.

Scurry is exactly right with this one. Cuds are when a piece of the edge of the die breaks off completely. This cannot happen within the design. You have a die chip.

In two rolls of OBW 2008-P mint I was able to assemble a progressive die chiping that happened to a die. So rather than posting images of each coin, I mad a GIF image of the whole process:

Enjoy!
