Pulled this VF30+ 1980-P Jefferson from a roll tonight ... and the find reinforced the reason to check both sides of each coin you search.

Nearly all Cud I have seen in photos have been associated with the obverse (hammer) die ... very few in my limited experience have been associated with the reverse (anvil) die.

Anyways ... here is a gobsmacking honker 'lava flow' Cud on the reverse of this well-circulated 80-P Jefferson.

80-P-Jefferson-...-Significant-Reverse-Die-Cud

You folks know by now how much I enjoy sharing my coin find data ... sooooo ... to offer a datapoint on how difficult it has been to find roll-search Jefferson Cud ... well ... this is my first ever at 239,600 coins searched!

Sooo ... c'mon ... give me some love for my first ever Cud.

David

I believe this is the first reverse Cud I have seen as well, at least one of that size. Thinking back I think I may have seen some small Cuds on the Reverse but as I said absolutely nothing that size

Awesome find! I can't believe that coin lasted long enough in circulation to wear down to that level.

Beautiful Reverse Cud!

Reverse Cuds are very hard to find.

I've only been able to find one so far, a 1983P LMC.
