I was wondering how accurate you guys think this grade is

ICG-Slab...you-Grade-It..

If it is the a true PF70DCAM, that puts it over $1500? I bought it for $9

The pictures are to small to determine the grade.

The vast majority of modern ICG 70s are 68s or 69s by PCGS and NGC standards. Their grading is usually fairly good on classics but they are a bit "enthusiastic" on the high end modern grading.

doubt you will get a 70 from PCGS or NGC in which the $1500 price tag comes into play.

Hard to say from the pic but considering the possible upside I would send it to PCGS and give it a shot

Ok thanks guys...so worst case scenario I'm thinking if I send it to PCGS is PR68...which still puts me at "really nice" since I paid $9.

I'll post what it comes back as in a couple weeks..Any suggestions what tier I should submit it in? I've been wondering say I submit it PCGS regular Max value $3000 If it ends up being worth more than that in their eyes does that mean it doesn't get graded?

Even if it comes back as a PR-67 DCAM from PCGS it is still a $40 coin.

Not bad, considering you only paid $9.

You will need to crack it out if you want to submit it to PCGS or NGC. PCGS once told me that they won't cross slabbed 69 or 70-graded coins since they may have edge problems (such as tiny nicks) that can't be seen until the coin is removed from the holder. Once cracked out there is nothing to prevent the service from deciding that cent is really only a PR-66 CAM. You take your chances, but in this case your dollar investment is small. Please report on the result if you decide to submit it!

I would send it in under the "modern" tier which is currently $14 at PCGS with a $1000 maximum coin value. Shipping of course will raise the cost considerably.

I called them yesterday this is what they said:

If submitting a 70 crossover, you have to put lowest excepted as a 69. (because like Jaobler said they have to see the edge) But they will not even think about taking it out of the ICG slab unless they are going to grade it 69(or whatever I put my lowest excepted at), after inspection of the edge if it is deemed a 70 then they will grade it 70 if not it will keep a 69.

I would hate to crack it out and someone be having a bad day and grade it like 64..at least its still a ICG graded, not the best, but certainly not the worst...

PCGS probably won't cross it at 69 so I'd save the money. Looking at the Teletrade images, it's a 66 or 67 if submitted today. It's possible it could be cracked out and dipped and may get a 69 but the carbon spots would likely hold it to 68 even if the hazing dips off.

Be very cautious with ICG ultra-high grade moderns. There's a reason why it went for $9. By the time you add in the Buyer's Premium and S&H, you probably overpaid.

Not trying to burst your bubble, just being honest.

And another $50 on a crap shoot, hoping you don't get snake eyes.

Good luck.

Yeah well I'm probably just going to save it and give it to my son...I got it today and its no higher than a PR65...probably closer to a PR64..I guess it's hit or miss with ICG...the only other ICG coin I own is a 1976S Silver Ike PF69DC and I sent it to PCGS (Still waiting) but it's nice enough to be a 68 or 69. But this penny I wouldn't even think about sending in.

CoinRook: That's a cheap lesson! I wish all mine had been as inexpensive! I believe we learn more from our mistakes than from our successes and most of us have done far worse than your proof Lincoln. Best of luck!
